The navicular bone is a boat shaped, small size that is nestled deep at the hooves and only measures about two centimeters deep and six centimeters wide on a horse. This bone may be small but it brings a lot of problem to a horse due to the fact that it is small, abode and cushy stature. Even though this bone is small, it has a huge responsibility and offer a great help on horses in their daily activities. Surgical treatments is the most reliable formed of treatment and has been proven to help horses back and free from their lameness. This have been performed by many veterinarians around the world over many years. There have been many techniques developed to surgically helped the navicular bone and rid the disease from affecting it any further.

When owners faced that treatment is not effective, they can try to inquire a veterinarian to perform an MRI. This will identify the veterinarian the causes of problems and help them decide to counter the issue. Surgical treatment is still the last hope when all else fails.
